Before visiting our Hospital(Patients in Abroad)

Basic policy

If you live outside Japan and wish to see a doctor at Mitsui Memorial Hospital during your stay in Japan, you are required to obtain a medical visit visa (*1) before your arrival in Japan.
A medical visit visa can be acquired via a guarantor organization (which stands surety for you) in Japan (*2).
This rule also applies to those who seek a second opinion from a doctor at Mitsui Memorial Hospital.

Patient -> request -> guarantor organization -> coordination -> Mitsui Memorial Hospital

*1 For more information on the medical visit visa, consult the following page on the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs website:
http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/medical_stay.html

*2 For more information on the guarantor organization, consult the following page on the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs website:

Mitsui Memorial Hospital accepts any of the registered guarantors listed on the above page.

Consultation fees

We will inform you of your estimated consultation fee via your guarantor organization.
Please note that you are personally responsible for informing yourself of the amount you are required to pay, the mode of payment, and the period for payment from your guarantor organization.

Pre-consultation inquiry

If you wish to know, before applying for a medical visit visa, whether or not a consultation at Mitsui Memorial Hospital is possible or beneficial to you, you may do so by providing your medical data (previous treatment, test results, medical imagery, etc.) to us and paying in advance 88,000 yen (per case).
This fee will not be returned under any circumstances, including when a consultation is judged impossible or unnecessary, but will be included in the medical bill as a prepayment when a consultation is booked at the hospital.

For example:
1,088,000 (estimated total medical fee) – 88,000 (pre-consultation inquiry fee) = 1,000,000 (amount to pay)

Please note that non-residents must enter Japan with a medical visit visa to have a medical consultation at Mitsui Memorial Hospital.
