Patients with difficulty in handling a medical consultation in Japanese

In accordance with Mitsui Memorial Hospital’s policy to ensure responsible and effective medical care, patients who have difficulty in handling a medical consultation in Japanese are required to be accompanied by someone who can serve as their interpreter during all their outpatient consultations and, if they are hospitalized, around the clock during their hospital stay.
Patients are personally responsible for arranging for their interpreter, who must be 20 years of age or older and capable of translating medical matters.
Please note that if hospital personnel judge that your interpreter’s skill levels are insufficient to ensure safe medical care, you will be required to arrange for a professional medical interpreter at your expense. We can also provide you with information on medical interpretation service (fees required).
