A Brief History
March 1909 | Mitsui Jizen Hospital was established on the former site of the Imperial University of Tokyo Second Hospital in Kanda Izumi-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo |
April 1919 | The Hospital was renamed Izumibashi Jizen Hospital. |
July 1943 | The Hospital was renamed Mitsui Kose Hospital. |
March 1945 | The hospital buildings and facilities were destroyed by firebombing. |
August 1947 | The Hospital resumed medical services after repairing the remaining fire-damaged buildings. |
May 1952 | The Hospital was reorganized as a social welfare corporation. |
April 1970 | The Hospital was renamed Mitsui Kinen (Memorial) Hospital. The first-phase construction of hospital facilities (Wards B and C) was completed. |
April 1980 | The second-phase construction of hospital facilities (Ward D) was completed. |
April 1983 | The construction of the affiliated nursing school buildings was completed. |
August 1993 | The construction of the administrative building was completed. |
August 1994 | The affiliated General Examination Center was established in Sumitomo Corporation’s Kanda Izumi-cho building. |
May 2002 | The affiliated special nursing home for the elderly, Mitsui Yoko-en, was established in Koto-ku, Tokyo. |
March 2004 | Mitsui Memorial Hospital Nursing School was closed down. |
March 2006 | The Hospital’s centennial project (building renovation) was announced. |
September 2008 | The Inpatient Pavilion was completed. |
August 2010 | The Outpatient Pavilion was completed. |
September 2011 | Wards B and C were demolished, and landscaping work was completed. The centennial project was completed. |
